About
Dr. Edward Machtinger is a Co-Principal Investigator at UCAAN; he is also a Principal Investigator and Co-director of the California ACEs Learning and Quality Improvement Collaborative (CALQIC). He is a Professor of Medicine and Director of the Center to Advance Trauma-informed Health Care (CTHC) and the Women’s HIV Program (WHP) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
The current focus of his research and clinical innovation is integrating and evaluating responses to childhood and adult trauma into the traditional health system and developing the field of trauma-informed health care.
Dr. Machtinger earned a B.A. in Classical Texts and Latin American Studies from New York University and an M.D. from Harvard University. He completed his residency at UCSF.
